Come on in...

Hey God

It's me.

I was wondering if I could get a 'do over'.

A 'do over' for most of the day today.

Today wasn't our finest.

A 'do over' for the hurt feelings, quick tempers, loss of patience, impulsive decisions.

I haven't been my best me, and I know I get a 'do over' tomorrow, but I could still really use one today.

Rule

Rule # 5234
Never throw your two year old's ice cream away when they are eating it-even if they are eating it very slowly.
She will cry-LOUDLY.

Rule # 239
If you are going to hide Christmas presents in the house, make sure they are wrapped, or concealed in some type of baggage; your children will find them, and want them, and not understand why they can't have them.

I wish I had known...

I wish I had known that making a CD for Sydaleigh with all her fav Disney songs would keep her entertained in her room for so-o-o-o-o long. We are going on an hour. Alone. In her room. Entertaining herself listening to music and playing with toys. This is unheard of in our house!!! Why didn't somebody tell me to do this before!

I'm a machine!

Oh finally!!

Finally after over two weeks of being so behind on everything I was able to catch my breath today.

I got the morning off from the girls and was just able to be alone in the house and work.

Laundry, sweeping, mopping, cleaning carpets, vacuuming, litter, garbage, dishes, AND...I finally had a chance to make some frozen dinners!

I made three-a three cheese baked ziti, spinache/mushroom manicotti, and shephard's pie.
Not entirely certain how the shephard's pie is going to freeze and then taste after cooking but I thought I'd give it a whirl.

Oh, and I had time left over after naps to pay some attention to my nails, hands and feet. It's really sad when your two year old's nails look better groomed than yours.

But not anymore baby! Cause I am back! Back into the swing of things..
at least until the weekend, then I'll get behind again, because Isaak will be home, and lets face it, nothing stays clean too long when you're raising kids!

woops

Me-"and Pooh said, 'oh yummy blackberries'."
Sydaleigh-"no Mommy, it says delicious."

Well, next time when reading I won't underestimate my child's ability to remember all the words to the book.
Guess I need to stop paraphrasing to save time.

Saweeeet!

I totally just made my first sale on craigslist!
Booyah!!!
Well technically I sold it for a friend and then gave her the money, but still, I'm totally gonna go through all my stuff and see what else I don't need-and can sell-and get money for!
This may be a new addiction!

Sweet pick me up

Gotta love friends. Especially my friends, who are so giving, and generous, fun to be around, and oh yeah, did I mention really good at baking, and bringing me the delicious treats they baked! Everyone can use a little pick me up from time to time- especially in the form of tasty bite size cookies! :) Wow, I really appreciated this today. Nothing like homemade treats to life your spirits.

You know you need a new pair of jeans when...

-the pairs you've had for the past five years have holes in the crotch

-a growing hole in the knee

-and all the belt loops are falling off

But I LOVE these jeans! Despite the fact that they're disintegrating.
These are my good ole jeans.
I think everyone has jeans like this-the ones that they just can't part with.
Lets face it, a good pair of jeans is hard to find, and when I find them I wear them till they look like the above.
But, since the holes in the crotch grow every time I wash them, and I don't really want people seeing my chonies, I set out on a hunt this weekend to replace them.
(Oh I'm still not getting rid of them, I just need a new pair to wear out of the house)
However, these favorite jeans of mine, that I've had for five years are no longer made in this same style at the store I purchased them at.
And, now this one is very important, the size I purchased them in five years ago is no longer the same size they are selling them in at the store.
Ohhh, they 'say' the same size on the tag, but they're not.
I wish all sizes fit the same in all the stores.
Now, you're one size if you buy jeans at this store. and a different size at that store.
It's all so frustrating.
All I want is another good pair of jeans that I can run into the ground, that will last me for another five years.
I went to SteveandBarry's this weekend on my quest and did find a nice pair of dressy jeans, but that still doesn't satisfy my hunt for an everyday pair of jeans.
So my quest continues.
I'll let ya know when I find them.
It's gonna be a tall order for the next pair of jeans to fill, I need to find ones that are up for the job, because now I have two kids to help me ruin them!

A new contraption

Isaak "built" us an adult swing this weekend.
And by "built" I mean tied rope around a piece of scrap wood.
This is him using the ladder to get some 'air' on his new swing.

watch out, the ladder is still there!

Sydaleigh was desperate for a turn on Daddy's swing-
even tried to climb the ladder.

gotta love my husband's willingness to try new things-even if they are a tad nuts.

Headed in the right direction

This morning as I was sitting on the couch feeding Marvelly, I look at Sydaleigh and notice that she is stuffing things into our entertainment cabinet. I asked her what she was doing and she replied, " I'm picking up Mom."
She picked up her pj's, her panties, candy wrappers, the phone, and everything else she saw that was out of place and put it all away for me.
What a dear, she tries, and that's what's important!

Goodbye summer, hello fall.

With summer seemingly behind us now, and fall creeping into Nebraska I am happy to say that I actually accomplished everything on our 'summer to do' list.
I put it up in my kitchen to remind me daily of things I wanted to accomplish before summer's end, and we did it all-picnics, kite flying, popsicles galore, ect.
So I thought with fall here I would do the same and make a 'fall to do' list full of activities to do before winter. It's so easy to hermatize around here once the cold weather starts to roll in (which it already has), so this is my effort to stay active with the girls.
We're going to keep going to the zoo until it's absolutely impossible due to the weather, jump in big leaf piles, go to pumpkin patches, paint pumpkins, and just truly make the most out of the next two months.
So excited for fall!

Oh a less depressing note

Marvelly had her 6 month checkup yesterday and she is cute as can be!
That was the doctor's official diagnosis of her-cute cute cute!
She is a lightweight not having quite doubled her birth weight yet, but at least she's cute!

An ode to Walmart

Why I hate you so....
because whenever I go in your store I can't push a cart down the aisles because they are so cluttered with merchandise on the floors and the sales associates fail to see and pick up,

the merchandise you say is on sale really isn't, but you don't know that till you checkout,

then upon checkout you realize that the merchandise you bought has rung up for the wrong price but the cashier can't fix it for you at the register, now you have to go to customer service,

at 'customer service' you have to wait another 10 minutes because only one employee is working on a Friday night and it takes f-o-r-e-v-e-r

then the 'customer service' employee refuses to honor the sale price that was on the merchandise you're trying to purchase and expects you to pay for it for $20 more than they said it cost,

sooooo, my husband has to go back into the store, look for something else to buy, while I take the kids to the car in an effort to maintain sanity,

but I can't leave, you won't let me, because our cashier didn't deactivate our DVD, which set off the alarm,

I don't have the receipt to prove I'm not shoplifting-Isaak does, but he's somewhere in the store,

so I have to wait again, until you can confirm my story with our cashier who checked us out twenty minutes ago.

And just for the record, Walmart, I never have these problems at Target, which is where I should have gone to begin with.

(This is for you Tera...)

I wasn't going to post this for Isaak's sake, but since you asked.....

he fell and then skidded along his butt up the hill, it was pretty funny. :)

Randomness from August

Marvelly playing in the sand box like the big kids.
(Sydaleigh mostly just poured sand all over her legs,
and Marvelly just laughed the whole time)

Apparently this swing is not just for kids, Isaak thought he'd try
it out too for some crazy reason, because he is crazy
I guess - he almost bulldozed Sydaleigh as you can see,
which of course she thought was hysterical.

The Nebraska State Fair
(of course the batteries in my camera died,
and I didn't have extras so we have all of 5 pictures.)

(a sheep getting sheered-never imagined this
is what it looked like when they did that-weird)

randomness

ring around the rosey-
all those games I played
growing up, Sydaleigh is doing now

(what an adorable 'friends' picture)
